We find out tomorrow for sure, but it sounds like our trailer will never be road-worthy again. So, we are homeless as of today.
This was her last 'voyage', this morning, to a dealership in town; they took one look at the frame and said,"you can't fix THAT!" and then proceeded to bring all their employees out to look at the failing frame! (she still looks great, just don't peek under the fiberglass...)
We knew that it was going into the shop (we just didn't know that it wasn't coming back out) - we packed up clothes this morning -and diapers, schoolbooks, and apparently some unauthorized supplies (like Axis and Allies games, Star Wars miniatures game, GI Joe guys...); we spent the day running a few errands (incuding a FAB afternoon spent with the Boyinks, a fulltime fam of 4 we met down in the RGV this past Feb!), then went back to the rv when we were done to empty the fridge and pick up the cat (the pic is BEFORE we added food and feline!)...
So, what does a family with 9 kids at 'home' do when they suddenly find themselves homeless???Why, they move in with family of course!!!
Aren't you glad that you aren't related to us???
ROFL!!! :)
For the next couple of weeks we will be roughing it at my sister's cabin while we figure what in the world is next for us.
Except the cabin' isn't a bit like one would think a cabin would be like...
The kids have 160 acres to run...I can watch movies in bed on a BIG screen (and the kids can watch them downstairs on the projection tv)...I can bribe the kids to do their schoolwork in record time by offering wii play...We have already put 4 kids through the showers, and they have all gotten to choose where they want to sleep, and there are still empty beds...The multiple fridges and freezers were stocked before we got here (as in no room for our own food), and we can even all sit at the 'kitchen' table comfortably. (and because my DH had boughten me the booster, I even have internet access despite being in the 'back woods'!!!)
We did offer/promise to not stay for the ENTIRE winter... ;) hehehe!!!
Yeah, don't feel too badly for us homeless ones - at least not until it's time to find a new rv - that should be very interesting! LOL! :)
the fusions look pretty sweet and Keystone makes and Open Range that is really nice. We really our Keystone. Check with the Weeds though, they know of custom place that will build it anyway you want and that would probably be your best bet to get a 4 season heavy duty trailer.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a shocker that must have been for you and your family. Looking forward to what the future holds for you.

Hey Dana, I just thought about it, after reading the upper post, Horizons, builds customs, you take them your ideas and they build it. Very well insulated, but a little more price, but hey its the way you want it and, it might give everyone their own beds, say with individual bunks or something, just an idea. I ordered their brochure off there website.
ReplyDeletePraise the Lord for a great sister! Give her a hug for me! :)
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I wish we could help in some way. I just hate that this is happening. Did you get any feed back from insurance or the Gulf Stream people, as to if they are going to pay for this issue? I am continuing to pray for your family. Thanks for the update, and keep them coming. :)
Steph
So what exactly happened to the fiver?
ReplyDeleteMy heart fell to my knees for you. I cant imagine how hard it is to have a big screen tv now. lol Sorry... We will keep you in our prayers that everything works out well for you. Make sure you check rv.org for ratings on your next rv. Or just buy a bus and convert it.
ReplyDeleteDana,
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear that your frame was bad. I can't believe you had such a repair! We are thinking of you as we know how those RV repairs can sometimes take the wind out of your sails. Glad you have a positive disposition. Great to find you! Hope we meet someday on the road!
You really have a funny way of writing the ups and downs. I hope that you are able to get a wonderful blessing when you get a RV. Thank the Lord for wonderful Sisters.
